1. DOJ Creates Whistleblower Advocate Position

    The Department of Justice has created a new role within the Office of the Inspector General: Whistleblower Ombudsperson. From law firm Warner Norcross & Judd

    “The Whistleblower Ombudsperson will be an advocate for agency whistleblowers and an educator and liason to other government agencies on whistleblowing issues.

    The Whistleblower Ombudsperson is one of the first such positions in the federal government.  The position will focus on training the Department on the role and importance of whistleblowers in improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the Department’s operations, on the legal rights of and protections for whistleblowers, and on protecting whistleblowers against the possible repercussions of retaliation.”
