    From law firm Skadden Arps, a look at how the Securities and Exchange Commission’s first ever award under the whistleblower bounty program sets the tone for companies trying to encourage employees to report internally instead of going directly to the SEC: 

    “In this environment, companies may find it challenging to control the scope and pace of internal and government investigations, or to qualify for cooperation credit. To the extent that they have not already done so, companies should assess and, if necessary, strengthen internal compliance programs, evaluate the effectiveness of internal reporting systems, and formally prepare to respond to whistleblower complaints.”
